Physical Therapy
Pediatric physical therapists specialize in the evaluation and treatment of diagnoses that limit physical function. Physical therapy is warranted when a child’s movement limits the ability to perform daily activities. Physical therapists address skills that help children take part in gross motor activities such as crawling, rolling, walking, running, and jumping. Physical therapists assist with positioning and mobility of wheelchairs, walkers and other mobility aids.
The goal of the pediatric physical therapy is to promote independence, increase participation, facilitate motor development and function, improve strength and endurance, enhance learning opportunities, and ease challenges with the activities of daily living in the child’s home, school, and community.
